Green Acre Park Campground Review

The Green Acre Park is in Waterloo, Ontario and is only a 5 minute drive from St. Jacobs. Green Acre was our last stop on a recent family trip and it was our first time staying here. For several years I have wanted to try out this campground after reading about it in the Camping in Ontario directory.

We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon and were shown to our pull thru site. I loved that it was directly across from a pond where the boys could fish. All of them enjoyed being able to walk over and try their luck on the water. Our site was number 339. It  was a level gravel site with patio stones for the picnic table and full hook ups. The campground offered free Wifi which made my oldest son extremely happy!

Enjoying the views

Green Acre Park has lovely grounds with beautiful flowers.  The owners put a lot of work in keeping everything watered and weeded and it has some of the nicest grounds that I have seen at a private campground.  Green Acre is a large park that has many seasonal trailers and all are well kept. We enjoyed talking walks at night with the dog through the campground.  The campground has a nice pool with two hot tubs and is a great way to beat the heat on a hot afternoon. The pool is popular with the kids but they do have an adult only swim every afternoon.

We had fun feeding the Koi fish and searching for them in the water.

As you can see from the above pictures the playground is large and well maintained.  A lot of kids were having fun on the climbing structures and playing tag.  The two large slides were also popular, it was hard to get a picture as little ones kept jumping in my shots!

Family Time

This trip was special as we were able to meet up with my parents and family friends. Sometimes with all our travels it’s hard to fit in time with extended family. A solution…take them with you! We had some great times (and great food!) along with lots of laughs and stories from my dad. If you ever get a chance to meet my dad you’ll never run out of things to talk about!

Keeping Busy

While in St. Jacob’s we did several day trips with the boys. This was kind of a trip that we made up as we went along (my bad).  St. Jabob’s has a lot to offer but for adventure seeking boys…it didn’t rank high on the excitement meter! Fishing rods,  a visit to the water park and a movie helped. I can recommend Bingman’s as a great way to spend a hot summer day. The waterpark  isn’t too large so you can sit in a chair and the kids can run to the different slides and come back and find you when they are done. A Boston Pizza is on site so you can go inside for lunch before heading back to the waterpark. We also had an intense game of mini golf where I once again proved that I suck at all sports, even mini ones!

We couldn’t have had better weather or better company at Green Acre Park. I think that this is a great place to come with young children or for adults. St. Jacob’s is a fun place to visit and the campground was lovely but I don’t think we’ll be back to this area with the boys again.  For my crew of growing boys I’m going to have to up the excitement level or at least be better prepared to keep them busy for future trips.
