Upper Canada Village
My boys love pioneer villages, they enjoy hands on learning and exploring. Upper Canada Village had many shops and exhibits. We saw the bakery where they baked bread in metal pans and brick ovens. The smell was incredible! I ended up taking a loaf home at the end of the day. We learned about how they made cheese and why cheddar is orange!
Upper Canada Village is a great place to visit if you are in the area of Morrisburg, Ontario. We visited Upper Canada village several years ago on our way to Quebec. A farmer of the farmers told the boys if they stayed until 4pm they could learn how to milk the cows. The look on the boys faces was priceless! We ended up staying an extra two hours on an incredibly hot day just so they could milk cows!
My boys got such a thrill from learning how to milk a cow the old fashioned way. They each had a turn and Evan put us all to shame! The highlight for the boys was then being able to feed the calf the milk from a bucket. To this day they still talk about that afternoon. The staff there were so patient with them answering all their questions.
